School of Arts 120 years

A celebration of the 120th year of the Nowra School of Arts was held at the venue today. Performers included The Nowra Town Band, the Lydian Singers, the Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra Quartet, The Shoalhaven City Concert Band and amtc.

School Students In the Boy From Oz

amtc is delighted that a number of school choirs will be participating in The Boy From Oz. The students will join the cast on stage for the block buster item “I Still Call Australia Home”. Certain to be a choral delight and a spectacular scene.

There will be a final rehearsal for the schools on Sunday May 27 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at the School of Arts.

The schools are:

Friday June 1: Illaroo Road and Shoalhaven Heads Public Schools

Saturday June 2: Bomaderry Public School

Sunday June 3: Callala and Berry Public Schools

Friday June 8 and Saturday June 9: Cambewarra Public School

Sunday June 10: TBA

How it will work.

The students and their teachers will sit at the back of the auditorium during the first half of the show. These seats are free. At interval they will move out of the auditorium, put on their costumes, and wait with their teacher until required on stage. They will enter through the front auditorium doors onto the stage.

After the song they will leave the stage and move back to their seats at the rear of the auditorium. This will create a grand exit to a musical reprise of the song. It is also important as we need to collect costumes and cause as little disruption to other patrons as possible while the show continues.

Some parents have enquired if their child can sit with them during the show. Only in the first half and only if you buy a ticket for the child.

Any other parent enquiries should be made to the schools concerned.

Rehearsals for the week beginning 14th May

So… for those who were not at today’s rehearsal…. tomorrow night is only for Peter/Young Peter/Trio/dancers. Tuesday night is everyone to run through Act 2 again. No point any of the band coming until Tuesday night( if you’re not already at another band rehearsal!) Sunday 20th will be a going over of all the musical numbers (without Peter). Thanks to everyone who contributed to lunch, and Ron for his bar-b-q time.

Please bring any costumes and shoes that you are supplying for Sunday’s run through of ACT 2. This will be a trial run!

LUNCH Sunday 1:00pm Barbeque

Reminder to bring a salad. Sausages, meat patties and tofu patties, tomato sauce and bread rolls will be provided. If you need something other than these things please bring.
